The Rohit Sharma-led Indian men’s cricket team beat England by 68 runs in the second semifinal played in Guyana on Thursday (June 27) to book a place in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. In the summit clash, the world No. 1 T20I team will face South Africa, which made it to the decider by getting the better of Afghanistan by nine wickets in Trinidad.
In the semifinal match, after being invited to bat first by England captain Jos Buttler, India posted a total of 171 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma top-scored by making 57 runs, and Suryakumar Yadav scored 47 runs from 36 balls. The 172-run target proved too much for the defending champions, and they could only manage 103 runs in 16.4 overs.
Player of the Match Axar Patel picked up three wickets for 23 runs, and Kuldeep Yadav dismissed three batters for 19 runs in four overs. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah also accounted for the dismissal of two batters.
