IPL 2025 Mega Auction Timings Announced, Starts in Jeddah

The 2025 IPL Auction is scheduled to take place on November 25-26 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Total 574 players will be up for bidding in the mega auction, including high-profile names like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Mohammed Siraj. Of the 574 players, 366 are Indian, 208 are actually overseas, including 3 from associate nations.

According to several media reports, Mallika Sagar will continue in her role as the auctioneer for the IPL. She had previously conducted the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction and took over from Hugh Edmeades as the auctioneer for IPL 2024. As per the official IPL release, the 2-day auction will finally begin at 3 PM IST (12:30 PM local time) on Sunday, November 24, 2024.

All the ten IPL franchises have revealed their retention lists ahead of the 2025 auction. Among the main stories from the deadline day, 3 prominent captains—Pant, Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer—were released by their respective franchises, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Kolkata Knight Riders. With these big names entering the auction pool, several other star players are also expected to be the focus of this intense auction.

Wicketkeeper-batsmen are most likely to be in high demand at this auction, and Rahul is expected to command a substantial price. Known for his consistent performances, Rahul also brings valuable captaincy experience for all, making him a prized asset.

Pant, too, is a significant contender in the auction. His exclusive  batting, coupled with strong leadership skills and excellent wicketkeeping, makes him one of the most well-known players in the market.

Ishan Kishan is an another dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, is also expected to generate considerable interest. He has proven himself as a reliable performer in the IPL as well as on the international stage.

Shreyas Iyer and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh are also likely to attract major attention, with both players expected to fetch profitable bids in the auction.
