List Of Retained And Released Players
The journey of ten teams towards the 2025’s Indian Premier League season has begun recently as teams declared the players they want to retain before the auction that will happen before the end of the year.
During the IPL Retention, the team declared which players would wear the jerseys next year during the tournament. But also, who’s hitting the auction block – these are big names that teams will eye.
Heinrich Klaasen was the highest paid cricketer in the retention lists and Sunrisers Hyderabad paid as much as 23 crore to retain him. Nicholas Pooran ranked right behind, with RCB and LSG offering them INR 21 crore each. However, other market giants will be up for new homes in the auction as well. These included Delhi franchise hero Rishabh Pant, who was officially declared released in a big surprise, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer the KKR title-winning captain, along with a premium Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. They are accompanied by some big overseas players like Jos Buttler and Glenn Maxwell as well.
Punjab Kings retained the least number of players, and Ricky Ponting will be the most ahead of this year’s auction with 110.5 cr. RCB will also have 83 crore in their hand with three retention players, while DC will have 73 cr under new leadership. KKR and RR will both go into the auction with six of the permitted players but the Jaipur team will only have 41 cr with which to make its work with no RTM rights possible either.
Plenty of talent, domestic and international, will enter the auction when it happens later this year, and with teams at different levels of readiness in terms of their retentions, it promises to be full of fireworks.
