Just two weeks after the Olympics conclude with a spectacular opening ceremony at the Stade de France, Paris will once again become the center of attention as the 2024 Paralympics commence.
Over the next two weeks, from August 28 to September 9, the world's top athletes with physical disabilities will compete for their countries. India is particularly excited as it sends its largest-ever delegation to the Paralympics, comprising 84 athletes competing in 12 different sports.
Three years ago, India made history at the Paralympic Games with an impressive total of 19 medals, including five golds, marking the first time the country achieved a double-digit medal count. Prior to that, India's best performance at the Paralympics had been four medals in both 1984 and 2016. With a remarkable 107 medals won at the Asian Paralympic Games last year, the Indian team is heading to Paris with high expectations.
India is setting its sights on a record-breaking 25 medals in 2024.
