Captain Harmanpreet Singh’s outstanding performance led to two goals as the defending champions India advanced to the final of the Hero Asian Champions Trophy with a decisive 4-1 victory over South Korea in the semi-final on Monday.
India’s goals came from Uttam Singh (13th minute), captain Harmanpreet Singh (19th, 45th), and Jarmanpreet Singh (32nd), while South Korea’s sole goal was scored by Yang Jihun (33rd) from a penalty corner. India will face hosts China in the final on Tuesday. Earlier, China won 2-0 in a shoot-out against Pakistan in the first semi-final after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.
In their earlier league stage meeting, India had defeated China 3-0. Pakistan and South Korea will compete in the third-place match, also scheduled for Tuesday.
