Ajay Jadeja, the foregoing Indian cricketer, has just acquired a royal upgrade—quite literally! At 53, he’s transitioned from cricket fields to a royal throne, being proclaimed the successor to the Jamnagar Royal Throne in Gujarat.
This announcement was made on Dussehra (October 12), and just like that, Jadeja is now enjoying a floundering luck of over ₹1,450 crore, according to reports.
If this figure is approximate, he’s officially rich than Virat Kohli, who has an estimated net worth of around one thousand crore. Ajay Jadeja is now known as India’s richest sports figure! Maharaja Shatrusalyasinh Jadeja, his uncle, made the statement on October 12, referring to his nephew as the new heir.
Shatrusalyasinh is Ajay’s cousin from his father Daulatsinghji’s family and was serving as a Member of Parliament from 1971 to 1984. The cricketing legacy in the family is powerful. Shatrusalyasinhji too was a cricketer. He captained Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy during the 1966-67 season, and he led the Saurashtra Cricket Association.
The Maharaja became the titular head of Nawanagar on February 3, 1966, after his father's death. He even married into Nepal’s royal family, though that union unfortunately ended in divorce.
