Christmas is almost here and we're already brainstorming fresh ways to decorate for the holiday. When it comes to decorating your Christmas tree, you can't go wrong with traditional red and green, but who doesn't love a tree with a fresh and unique theme that sparks joy for the entire family? From Barbie pink and moody greens to sparse minimalism, we've rounded up some of this year's most out-of-the-box Christmas tree trends and decorating ideas.
1. Chic Coastal
A nautical-inspired tree is a great way to infuse natural texture and a soothing color palette into your space. Here, HomeGoods Style expert Jenny Reimold even uses pampas grass as a tree topper.
2. Barbie Pink
Forget classic red and green, pink is the most popular color for Christmas this year (an ode to the success of the Barbie movie). Go overboard with pink baubles: light, dark and glittery.
Simple and sparse, this beautiful tree draws on the beauty of nature. To recreate this trending style, forage for pinecones, dehydrate fruit (like oranges, cranberries and apples) and make a garland from popcorn.
4. Silver and Gold
Exuding a sophisticated style, this Christmas tree theme features a combination of mercury glass and shimmering metallic ornaments, gold sink bow ties and tiny gold bells.
5. Winter Wonderland
To make the Christmas tree a focal point, outline it with a winter village layered on top of a white sheepskin rug. Then stay true to the theme with snowflake, snowmen and mitten ornaments.
6. Candy Theme
Wrap this candy-covered tree with a garland made with artificial hard candies in an array of neon hues. Then fill in the empty spaces with lollipops, candy canes and candy ribbon ornaments.
7. REGAL ROOST CHRISTMAS TREE
For a more sophisticated variation on the nature theme, Hammel layered neutral-colored elements, like the white bells, light brown pine cones, and cream-colored birds. “We love to either wrap real (or faux!) garland around the tree or pop stems and branches into our trees for added fullness,” she tells us. “It’s incredible how much more lifelike your tree will feel.”
