On Wednesday, Babbel, a language-learning company, and The Captioning Group, which focuses on closed captions, shared a list of words that were the hardest for US news anchors, politicians, and public figures to pronounce in 2024. The list highlights the year's most talked-about topics and people, covering everything from pop culture to politics.

Roan, known for her hit song "Good Luck, Babe!", became a star this year and is nominated for Grammy awards. The list explains her name is pronounced CHAP-uhl ROHN, not SHA-pel ROW-an.

During Harris' unsuccessful presidential campaign this year, her great-nieces spoke at the Democratic National Convention to explain how to pronounce her first name, COM-a-la. Also on the list is U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, whose last name continues to confuse people. During his 2020 presidential campaign, he even made posters and T-shirts with the pronunciation "Boot-Edge-Edge" to help.
