Yoo Young Jae Faces Fourth Court Hearing Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Announcer Yoo Young Jae appeared at the Suwon District Court’s Seongnam Branch for his fourth hearing, facing allegations of sexually assaulting Ms. A, the sister of his former wife, actress Sun Woo Eun Sook. The prosecution is demanding a five-year prison sentence, along with mandatory counseling, public disclosure of his personal information, and a one-year employment restriction.

Yoo has repeatedly denied the charges, which claim he molested Ms. A multiple times between March and October last year. Despite his denial, prosecutors emphasized the gravity of the alleged crimes, pointing out that Ms. A’s testimony has remained consistent throughout the investigation. They also criticized Yoo for showing no remorse.

Ms. A provided authorities with evidence, including recorded conversations and medical records, to support her claims. She stated that the incidents caused emotional distress and led to her being diagnosed with panic disorder. Sun Woo, who divorced Yoo after 18 months of marriage, testified that her sister’s mental and physical health had deteriorated significantly due to the alleged assaults.

Sun Woo revealed in court that she only learned about the alleged incidents when she was reconsidering her marriage to Yoo. She described her sister’s struggle, noting rapid weight loss and declining mental health caused by the stress.

While Yoo maintains his innocence, the court will now decide whether the evidence and testimonies are sufficient for a conviction. The case has drawn public attention due to its connection with the well-known actress and the serious nature of the allegations.
