Veteran K-Drama Actor of City Hunter and Doctor Stranger Passes Away

Choi Jung-woo, a respected figure in South Korea's entertainment industry, passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 68. His agency, Bless ENT, confirmed the news, stating, "Actor Choi Jung-woo has passed away. The specific cause of death has not yet been revealed." 

Born in 1957, Choi began his acting journey in 1975 with the play "The Life of an Actor." Over the years, he became known for his compelling supporting roles in numerous dramas and films. Audiences may recognize him from popular series like "City Hunter," "Doctor Stranger," "The Legend of the Blue Sea," and "Master's Sun." 

Choi's performances often portrayed authoritative figures—CEOs, doctors, and politicians—with a quiet strength and depth that resonated with viewers. His ability to bring authenticity to these roles made him a staple in Korean television and cinema.

The funeral service for Choi Jung-woo is scheduled at Gimpo Woori Hospital Funeral Home in Gyeonggi Province. The procession will take place at 10 a.m. on May 29.
