Shocking Abuse in Incheon Church Leads to Teen's Tragic Death

South Korea is in shock following the recent revelations about the tragic death of a 17-year-old high school student at a church in Incheon. On May 15, the girl, who had been living at the church for three months, died under severe abuse, as revealed by Yoo Sang Bum of the ruling People Power Party.

According to prosecutors, church members subjected the girl to sleep deprivation and physical labor, ignoring her bipolar disorder. Instead of seeking psychological help, the girl's mother placed her under the care of the church choir team.

The girl was forced to copy Bible verses without sleep for five days, climb stairs for hours, and was restrained when showing symptoms of her illness. The choir leader reportedly instructed members to "break her will" and denied her medical care even when she lost bladder and bowel control.

The police found the girl bound and bruised. Three church members are on trial for child abuse resulting in death, while the victim's mother faces charges of child negligence. The choir leader denies most abuse allegations, and the next trial is scheduled for August 12.
