Kim Young-hoon Holds Title for World's Highest IQ

“The World Mind Sports Council hereby recognizes YoungHoon Kim from South Korea as the person with the highest IQ in the world and congratulates him,” the event organizer said.

Before Kim Young-hoon, the title of the person with the highest IQ in the world was held by Terence Tao, a Chinese-Australian professor, who had an IQ of 230.

"I want to research and help improve people's brainpower around the world using my talents in the future," Kim said after the announcement.

The 35-year-old graduate from Yonsei University in Seoul is the sole Korean member of both the Mega Society and the Giga Society, which exclusively admit individuals with exceptionally high IQs.

The World Memory Championships is a global competition where highly intelligent individuals, selected in advance, compete in a tournament format to determine the ultimate winner. Throughout the event, participants' IQs are also thoroughly assessed.

Kim founded the United Sigma Intelligence Association, a non-profit organization comprising over 100 intelligent individuals globally, including professors from prestigious universities like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

The World Mind Sports Council, founded by Tony Buzan, organizes prestigious brain championships worldwide. These include the World Memory Championships, World Speed Reading Championships, and World Mind Mapping Championships.
