Ever since details about SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited film, SSMB 29, featuring Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj, and Priyanka Chopra, emerged online, fans have been eagerly awaiting further updates. Earlier reports suggested that the film is set against the backdrop of Kashi and is slated for a grand theatrical release in the summer of 2027. The movie is currently in production, with an extensive shooting schedule planned until mid-2026.
Now, a fresh update has revealed a significant decision regarding the film’s structure. Contrary to earlier speculations, SS Rajamouli has opted to narrate this ambitious forest adventure in a single installment instead of splitting it into two parts.
As per reports, citing a source close to the project, stated: "SS Rajamouli is known for breaking conventions and crafting stories in formats that maximize audience engagement. He pioneered the two-part storytelling trend with Baahubali, but for SSMB 29, he aims to take a different approach. He feels that many filmmakers have exploited the two-part format for commercial gains rather than storytelling purposes. To avoid stretching the narrative unnecessarily, he has structured the screenplay as a single, gripping experience."
Similar to RRR, SSMB 29 is anticipated to have an extensive runtime of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The film is designed to ensure that viewers remain captivated from the very first scene to the final frame.
A source close to the project revealed, "Rajamouli has designed this film in a way that maintains the audience’s attention from the first frame to the last. It’s a layered narrative, blending reality, mythology, fiction, and adventure seamlessly."
Several key sequences have already been filmed, and the makers are currently working on a special two-minute announcement video featuring actual footage from the movie. This much-awaited glimpse is expected to be unveiled soon. Touted as one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious projects, SSMB 29 is being developed on an unprecedented scale. Rajamouli is in talks with international studios and filmmakers to expand the film’s global appeal. Additionally, Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli have struck a 40% back-end profit-sharing deal with producers D.V.V. Danayya and Narayana K.L., ensuring a strong financial partnership for the film’s release.
