Explaining the significance of the film's title, Nag Ashwin stated, "Our film starts in the Mahabharat period, and it ends in 2898. That’s the title of the film. It is called Kalki 2898AD. It spans that 6000-year sort of distance in time."

He further elaborated on the creative process, emphasizing the challenge of creating futuristic yet distinctly Indian worlds without resembling Hollywood's 'Blade Runner'. The film's narrative is deeply rooted in Indian mythology, drawing parallels to the myth of Krishna's last avatar in 3102 BC.
