Few directors in the ever evolving Indian film industry can transcend regional boundaries and leave their mark on the entire country. Atlee, the visionary director who requires no introduction, is one of them. His rise from Tamil cinema to international acclaim has been nothing short of extraordinary. Nayanthara and Arya starred in the romantic comedy "Raja Rani," which marked Atlee's debut as a filmmaker. It was a commercial hit, which not only cemented Atlee's position but also unleashed his talent for striking a balance between commercial aspects and a very moving narrative.

Following the success of "Raja Rani," he then directed Vijay in 'Theri' (2016). Following the success of the film, Vijay and Atlee collaborated on two further projects - "Mersal" (2017) and "Bigil"(2019). While Atlee focused on women's empowerment through sports, particularly football, in "Bigil", he also addressed topics of medical corruption and patriotism in "Mersal".

Atlee's filmmaking style began to spread throughout the country. Impressed with his pattern, Shah Rukh Khan collaborated with him in the blockbuster "Jawan". Taking full creative control, he carved his style and social commentary into the film, which went on to become an incredible hit in Indian cinema history, earning an incredible 1148 crores.

Atlee's distinct directing style and his heroes are two of his strongest suits. Whether it's Vijay's complex parts in "Mersal" or Shah Rukh Khan's dynamic representation in "Jawan", Atlee consistently showcases the larger-than-life aspect of his lead actors, which also connects to the common man.
