Shah Rukh Khan Makes Powerful Met Gala Debut—But a question by Press Sparks Outrage

Shah Rukh Khan finally made his long-anticipated debut at the 2025 Met Gala—and it was every bit as grand as fans had hoped. Dressed in a striking all-black outfit by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, SRK’s appearance on the Met Gala blue carpet turned heads. But what really set the internet buzzing wasn’t just his look—it was an awkward moment with the foreign press that had fans fuming.

SRK’s outfit was carefully tailored to the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” He wore a floor-length black trench coat over an unbuttoned shirt, paired with chunky, diamond-studded necklaces, rings, and pendants spelling out “K” and “SRK.” A tiger-topped gold cane added a bold royal flair—an ode to his “King Khan” image. Every detail of the look screamed personal style and cultural confidence.

The Bollywood superstar didn’t hold back on fan service either. He smiled, waved, and even struck his signature pose on the carpet. It was clear he was enjoying the moment.

But then came a moment that threw off the mood. A now-viral video showed Shah Rukh Khan being stopped by a journalist who didn’t recognize him. The reporter asked him to introduce himself. SRK, ever composed, simply said, “Hi, I’m Shah Rukh,” and went on to describe his outfit and its inspiration.

While SRK handled the moment with grace, fans on social media didn’t take it lightly. One fan posted, “It’s 2025. If you’re covering the Met Gala, you should know who Shah Rukh Khan is.” Another commented, “Hopefully, they Google him later and realize how massive he is.” Fans were especially upset that a global icon with over 30 years of cinematic legacy had to explain who he was on such a high-profile platform.

Despite the snub, SRK stayed humble. In a chat with Vogue, he said, “I don’t know about history, but I’m nervous, I’m excited, and Sabyasachi here convinced me to come.”
