Navra Maza Navsacha 2 Review: Comical Riot In Theatres, Perfect Sequel

Very few times happenes when the sequels of iconic movies actually turns out as deserving additions which carries the emotions attached with the film. Navra Maza Navsacha, a 2005 Marathi film which is considered as a cult movie which almost Maharashtra, Marathi natives & even non-marathi living in Maharashtra has seen. The film was so iconic that it deserved a tough sequel and the team brought the best out of them once again.

After 19 years Sachin Pilgaonkar, directed & actor of the original movie decided to bring a sequel of the film without altering minor details the makers assembled the cast as Sachin Pilgaonkar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Ashok Saraf & Vijay Patkar continue to rule the sequel Navra Maza Navsacha 2. With a new story but same setting this crazy sequel is all you would expect from these OG makers.

Unlike the previous film, this time the journey to Ganpatipule begins a little late till the interval arrives. Till then story unfolds between Lamby (Swapnil Joshi) & Shraddha (Hemal Ingle). Due to uncertain twists & turns Shraddha promises unimaginary vows to lord ganesha of Ganpatipule and with wedding at the stake Lamby has to complete the vows anyhow. First half of the movie takes its time to unfold and settle into the audiences as the story is going forward after 19 years, that's too much. Old movie references & new additions to attaract new generations is spot on.

The travel this time is filled with not just funny but also emotional moments interrelated to lord Ganesha. The film is filled with cameos, from Nirmiti Sawant, Siddharth Jadhav, Vijay Patkar & special appearances of Sonu Nigam, Johnny Lever & Shriya Pilgaonkar in the songs. Climax is little heavy and hasn't cooked perfectly but the devotional & soulful setting covers it up.

Overall, we can say that it was a deserving sequel for the cult film and is a must watch to continue the generational legacy of such iconic films.
