Sometimes a filmmaker tries to envelop unusual & difficult stories in such a way that they seem so easy, natural & usual. In an official adaptation of ‘The Lovers’ Shirsha Guha Thakurta crafts such a phenomenal piece, Do Aur Do Pyaar!

The film revolves around a mid-age married couple living in Mumbai Kavya Ganesan played by Vidya Balan & Ani Banerjee played by Pratik Gandhi; their long lost love, hectic lives & marriage. It reflects the perfect setting of daily lives of a working married couple. Though it’s an adaptation but director has aptly added the needed elements to showcase the namesake relationships, hectic working lives & families beyond marriage.

The story and the dialogues are the USP of ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar,’ the relevancy in the dialogues to the current scenarios reflects what kind of a setting director wants to connect audiences with. One such dialogue, when Ani (Pratik Gandhi) says, “Married couples don’t have sex,” was so dark and on point.

On the acting front, Pratik Gandhi & Vidya Balan are irreplaceable. One cannot move on with their old school yet gen’z romantic moments and hilarious comic timings. Both are such a natural actors, they nailed it at every corner. Ileana D’Cruz & Sendhil Ramamurthy too had their moments to delve into the story. Though both the characters don’t have any development towards the end, especially D’Cruz who looked as powerful as Balan & Gandhi.

The soothing music compliments the mystic atmosphere of the movie, ‘Jazbaati Hai Dil’, ‘Tu Hai Kahaan’ are some of the songs that may remain in your playlists for long time.
