Vision Day is celebrated on June 10 every year in the state. This year too, Drishti Din Week will be celebrated on this occasion from today (June 10) to June 16, informed Health Minister Rajesh Tope.
All District Surgeons, Ophthalmic Surgeons and Health Workers have been instructed to celebrate Vision Day Week from 10th to 16th June 2021 this year. Under the National Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program, eye screening camps for diabetics have been organized.
Eye Surgeon in Government Service Dr. Ramchandra Laxman Bhalchandra worked day and night, overcoming difficult circumstances, he completed more than 80,000 eye surgeries on the strength of perseverance and enlightened the lives of the blind. His date of birth and date of death is June 10. In recognition of his work, under the National Blindness Control Program, every year on 10th June, Dr. Bhalchandra Smriti is celebrated as Drishti Day.
During the Corona period, webinars or visuals were organized on the subject of blindness in young children, post-corona through medical colleges / regional institutes of ophthalmology / non-governmental NGOs as well as private specialist doctors.
