Congress MP Rahul Gandhi grabbed eyeballs on social media last week after he jumped into the sea with fishermen in Kerala’s Kollam district.
The 50-year-old was photographed in a wet T-shirt alongside a young man after his ‘fishing trip’. The photo, taken shortly after the Congress MP’s swim, highlighted his abdominal muscles, and netizens were quick to react to it.
As expected, the photo went viral with many netizens seeking fitness tips from the Congress MP. Indian boxing star Vijender Singh tweeted the photo and wrote, “Abs of a boxer. Most daring young fit & people’s leader Way to go @RahulGandhi ji.”
This week, the Congress leader is in Tamil Nadu as part of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. He has been holding roadshows and training guns at the ruling AIADMK.
The 50-year-old is also trying to connect with locals and students via one-on-one interactions and group discussions. But much like his ‘fishing trip’ in Kerala, the Congress MP once again made an apparent demonstration of his fitness. In a video, he is first seen engaging with a student in martial art ‘Aikido’ before taking up a push-up challenge with a schoolgirl.
“You are trying to embarrass me,” says Rahul Gandhi before starting the 15-push up challenge, which he completes with ease. As the crowd cheers, Rahul Gandhi makes the challenge ‘a bit more difficult’ by asking the female student to do one-arm push-ups. The video of the event, shared by ANI, has now garnered over 2.20 lakh views and close to 1,500 retweets.
Not only that, Rahul Gandhi also danced with the students of the school along with AICC Tamil Nadu in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao and PCC Chief KS Alagiri. “PCC president and Dinesh, please come. I am not going down alone. If I am going to look bad, I am going to look bad with other people,” he said before shaking a leg.
