Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya was directed, scripted and story told by Sohail Khan. Inspite of the big clash with Nana Patekar, Manisha Koirala and Jackie Shroff starrer Yugpurush, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna took away the box office crown. Sohail Khan has chosen the story which was completely different from what we saw on the silver screen. The direction was impressive, handling many sequences with maturity. The story of friendship-turned-love was equally absorbing with amazing cinematography. Comedy scenes were good along with fun-loving dialogues. “O Oh Jaane Jaana” (sung by Kamaal Khan) became a rage at that time which was supported by shirtless video-song sequence featuring Salman Khan. Music by the legend Jatin-Lalit was soul- riveting. Salman Khan and Kajol stole the show with mind-blowing chemistry. Performances by the all the actors, including Arbaaz Khan and Dharmendra, brought justice to the characters they played on screen.

According to the Boxofficeindia.com, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya was released on 27th April, 1998 at 225 screens to Rs 80 lakhs crores. The film collected Rs 2.31 crores in its first weekend and went onto collect Rs 4.47 crores in its first week. Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya ended its theatrical run with Rs 18.06 crores against a budget of Rs 7.75 crores and turned out to be “Super-Hit” at the box office.
