The Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century, Taylor Swift or Beyonce

Since last month, Billboard has been revealing its list of The Greatest Pop Stars Of The 21st Century, and the list is reaching its end. With Rihanna being named third, only Taylor Swift and Beyonce are the only two left to be placed.

When it comes to these two pop stars, it’s difficult to decide who should be the first and who should be second. Both the stars have had a phenomenal career in the last 25 years, which is the criteria for this list. On one hand, we have Queen B and the other holds the Music Industry, and it’s hard to say who will take the first or second spot.

Considering their track records, both Taylor Swift and Beyonce have an impressive and extensive list of accomplishments. Both have broken many records within the industry and outside. Most of their songs have become classics, and their albums have become platinum. Both have a vast and supportive fanbase that follows and praises them. They even have taken over the theatres with their concert films.

But with so many similarities, there are many differences too. While Taylor has been awarded with four Album of the Year awards at the Grammys, Beyonce has failed to snatch even one. While Beyonce has eight studio albums, Taylor has 11. However, while Taylor’s career is called successful, Beyonce gets the Legacy tag. 

Let’s forget the differences and only focus on the impact of these two stars. Beyonce has always advocated for the black community's rights, and Taylor has openly supported abortion and reproductive rights. They both have supported the queer community openly, and they have made a clear stance on women’s rights. Both the artists and their music have been responsible for saving the lives of many who were going through a tough time.

At the end of the day, both are iconic and powerful pop stars who have impacted the world with their persona and music. They have revolutionised the music industry and stand out there as role models for all women.
