Blumhouse announced that the shooting for Insidious 5 has commenced with series star, Patrick Wilson signed who direct the series as well. This was announced during its first-ever BlumFest today.
The fifth season in the horror series, which had begun way back in 2010, marks Wilson’s directorial debut for a feature.
Wilson and Ty Simpkins( Dalton Lambert) will be embarking on new adventures. Lambert will be going off to college in the new installment of the series and all the action takes place there.
After a decade after the most recent Insidious entry, it’s hard to know the plot which is psychic rituals, ghost-hunting, and malevolent spirits.
Wilson said, “I’m honored and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious installment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices. Directing the movie is both professionally and personally a full circle moment for me, and I am extremely grateful to be entrusted in continuing to tell this frightening and haunting story. Into the further we go…“
Halloween Kills screenwriter Scott Teems has penned the Insidious 5 script.
Most of this series has been based on a story by series co-creator Leigh Whannell.
There is so much uncertainty around the pandemic in the US right now and how it will continue affecting theatrical releases, we have not been informed about any date of release.
