This week we will see the clash of two Bollywood releases- Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh and Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon starrer Panipat. Let us see which film will open better at the box office.
Pati Patni Aur Woh
After giving a solid hit this year with Luka Chuppi, Kartik Aaryan is back with a remake of B.R Chopra’s 1978 classic and is in safe hands as audiences have loved the trailer of Pati Patni Aur Woh.
Looking from the trailer of Pati Patni Aur Woh (touched 43 million views), the comedy-drama had generated curiosity among the audience as it is coming at the right time. The songs have created quite a buzz while the team is travelling places for aggressive promotions. Kartik Aaryan had already his highest opening film with Luka Chuppi (Rs 8.01 crore). The advance booking of Pati Patni Aur Woh had already started and the current trend is showing that comedy drama is pacing ahead of Luka Chuppi and can touch double digit mark. Though the compensation from Panipat will be there, as per our analysis, Pati Patni Aur Woh can get an opening of Rs 9-10 crores and will depend entirely on the word-of-mouth reviews.
Panipat is a crucial film for three people – Ashutosh Gowarikar who has to prove himself after the disastrous Mohenjodaro at the box office (though he is a brilliant director giving us beautiful films like Lagaan, Swades and Jodha Akbar), Arjun Kapoor who needs to deliver hit after giving flops like Namaste England and India’s Most Wanted and Sanjay Dutt who has not been able to make a successful comeback after forgettable Bhoomi, Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster 3 and Prassthanam.
Based on the third and last battle of Panipat between the Maratha warriors and Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali, the trailer of Panipat looks promising (42 million views) . However, the clash with Pati Patni Aur Woh and disappointing songs might hurt its collection at the ticket window. As per analysis, Panipat should open somewhere between Rs 5-6 crore and will completely depend on the word-of-mouth reviews to make impact at the box office.
