The Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon starrer Panipat surprised the movie goers when the collections of the war drama doubled on second Saturday at the box office.
Ashutosh Gowarikar can heave a sigh of relief, atleast for sometime, as Panipat showed a huge growth on second Saturday as compared to second Friday at the ticket window
Based on the third and last battle of Panipat between the Maratha warriors and Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali, Panipat had earned good reviews from critics but the clash with Pati Patni Aur Woh and the length of the film impacted its box office perspective. Though the reviews from the audience is trending positive as per BookMyShow.com, the first week collections is below mark, consolidating with Rs 25.68 crore. Due to the release of Mardaani 2 and Jumanji 2 this Friday, the earnings of Panipat crashed to Rs 69 lakhs.
The good news is that second Saturday earnings of the war drama shot up by around 200%, collecting Rs 27.63 crore after 9 days at the box office. However, this will still be considered as poor collections considering the big budget, costing around Rs 75 crore (Production Cost: 65 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore).
