The highly anticipated release of the Pakistani film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan in India has been postponed. This latest update was confirmed by the film’s distribution holder, Nadeem Mandviwalla on October 1.
The film was supposed to release on October 2 in the state of Punjab, but faced opposition from a Hindu Party. Nadeem Mandviwala, told PTI that a petition had been filed in an Indian court to prevent the release of The Legend of Maula Jatt. While Mandviwalla has exclusive distribution rights to the film in Pakistan, he said that international distribution, handles by Zee India, was looking to have a release in Punjab.
Mandviwalla said, “Unfortunately its release has once again been stalled and there is nothing anyone can do until the court gives its decision.” Mandviwalla ia one of the top distributors, exhibitors and cinema owners in Pakistan, and he believes that this film’s release in India, will be a big step forward for the Pakistani industry.
“I am pretty sure given the quality and efforts put into the making of the film and its brilliant cast, Maula Jatt will be a big hit in Indian Punjab,” Mandviwalla further added.
‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, starring Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan was released in Pakistan 2 years ago and was a record-breaking success, grossing around PKR 400 crore globally.
