OPINION: Shame On Republic TV; They Are Defaming A Dead Girl’s Character On National Television Even When Her Parents Slams False Reports

Celebrity manager Disha Salian died by suicide after allegedly jumping off from her building on June 8. Next week Sushant also reportedly committed suicide on June 14 therefore Disha’s death is being linked to Sushant’s death as both died by suicide within a week. Ever since then media has come out with their numerous speculations and conspiracy theories. But today father Satish Salian Disha’s father has written to the Mumbai Police, seeking action against journalists spreading ‘fake news’ about her death and defaming her.

Republic TV channel has crossed all its limits of vulgar journalism. How can they flash headlines like Disha had no clothes on her dead body! They are defaming a girl’s character. Seriously that is so pathetic. Without taking permission from her parents how can they break such news? The news and headlines they are showing are completely contradictory to what her parents said.

Vasanti Salian Disha’s mother said, “First, I would request people of India, all in media, social media, YouTube, and all others, everything is false. All theories and stories are fake and just rumors. I lost my only child but now all these media people social media people will murder us. Therefore I request you to stop all this. I request the Supreme Court to stop all this, we are badly suffering because of this. Now we don’t have any strength to listen to all these fake news against our daughter.”

Father Satish Salian said, “As media has freedom of speech, we also have right of privacy, do not interfere in our life, please. I request you all, please. Police have explained to me. They showed whole case evidence, post mortem report. My daughter was never pregnant, she never got pregnant. Rape never happened, organs are clear.”

Furthermore, he said, “Please I request don’t believe in such rumors do not spread such rumors. For your benefit, do not use my daughter and defame her. From politicians, media and people I request please don’t do this to our daughter. Do not play with her.”

And no matter what, No media house should use such heinous statements about a dead girl and her character. Have some sense of how her parents would feel when they read and see this kind of news about their daughter. It’s not just about Disha but it is wrong to make such claims about any girl.

I myself being a girl feel bad to read this news relating to another girl. This kind of news has to be banned and it’s a request to the people not to share or promote such news and media houses. Republic TV have some shame and stop using someone’s character for TRP.
