Zomato has decided to discontinue its intercity food delivery service "Legends," as announced by CEO Deepinder Goyal on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He stated, "Update on Zomato Legends — after two years of trying and not finding a product-market fit, we have decided to shut down the service with immediate effect."

Launched in August 2022, the service aimed to deliver delicacies from ten cities across India to customers' homes. However, it encountered challenges early on, including the resignation of Siddharth Jhawar, head of intercity delivery, in November 2022. Zomato initially shut down Legends in April 2023 but quietly relaunched it in July, implementing new measures such as a minimum order value of ₹5,000, pre-stocked food items, and limiting the service to select customers in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other major cities.

Additionally, Zomato recently discontinued its hyperlocal delivery service "Xtreme," which was launched in October last year to allow merchants to send and receive small parcels. This week, Zomato also announced the acquisition of Paytm Insider. Paytm's parent company, One 97 Communications (OCL), revealed that it had entered into definitive agreements to sell its entertainment ticketing business, including movies, sports, and events, to Zomato in a deal worth ₹2,048 crore.
