YG Entertainment Announces End of Actor Management to Focus on Music

In an official statement, YG Entertainment expressed gratitude to its actors and their supporters, stating, “We sincerely thank all the actors who have been with us and fans who have shown them so much love. We will spare no effort in providing the necessary support until the very end.”

The company also mentioned that it held individual discussions with each actor to address their specific contract situations, ensuring a smooth transition for everyone involved.

Over the past few years, YG Entertainment has been streamlining its operations, gradually phasing out less profitable sectors. In 2023, the company absorbed YGX into its Global Training Center to consolidate its expertise internally. Additionally, YG expanded its in-house producer team from 10 to over 50 members, bolstering its music production capabilities.

A YG spokesperson shared, “We have consistently worked on restructuring our business to focus on our core operations. We are positioning 2025 as the inaugural year where these efforts will bear fruit.”

The company also emphasized its commitment to enhancing its intellectual property (IP) portfolio, stating, “While enhancing the sustainability of our existing IP, we will also accelerate the discovery and development of new IP. By continuously strengthening our core competencies and solidifying our leadership in the music industry, we aim to write a new chapter in YG’s growth story.”

YG Entertainment currently manages several high-profile actors, including Cha Seung Won, Yoo In Na, Claudia Kim, Lee Sung Kyung, Jang Ki Yong, Lee Soo Hyuk, Han Seung Yeon, and Son Na Eun. The company’s decision to exit actor management will undoubtedly lead to significant changes for these artists.
