A marital discord has unfolded in Bhopal as a woman files for divorce, just eight months after tying the knot, alleging her husband reneged on their honeymoon plans. The husband, promising a getaway to Goa or abroad, reportedly surprised his wife by taking her to Ayodhya and Varanasi instead.
The couple, both employed as IT professionals, had no financial constraints, making an overseas honeymoon seemingly feasible. However, the husband, citing familial responsibilities, insisted on a domestic trip. Despite their initial agreement on a vacation in Goa or South India, the husband, a day before the scheduled departure, revealed the change to Ayodhya and Varanasi.
The reason given was the mother's desire to visit Ayodhya before the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony on January 22. The wife reluctantly joined the trip, but upon their return, marital tensions escalated, leading her to file for divorce just ten days later. She claims her husband prioritized his family over her.
In the divorce petition, the woman expressed financial capability for an international honeymoon, making the shift to a domestic destination perplexing. She further stated that her husband's decision to accommodate his parents' wishes over their pre-planned destination strained their relationship.
During the family court hearing, the husband defended his actions, asserting his wife's exaggerated response to the situation. Both parties are currently undergoing counselling at the Bhopal Family Court under the guidance of counsellor Shail Awasthi.
This case sheds light on the complexities that can arise within marriages when expectations clash, emphasizing the importance of communication and understanding in navigating such issues. The court aims to facilitate resolution through counselling, seeking an amicable solution for the estranged couple.
