SIDDHARTH MALLYA's EMOTIONAL NOTE
Quitting alcohol is a difficult decision, but the journey it sets in motion can be even more challenging. Siddharth Mallya, the son of liquor baron Vijay Mallya, recently shared an emotional note marking six years of being alcohol-free.
On Instagram, Siddharth posted a photo of himself and wrote, “Today marks 6 years of no drinking. A reminder for anyone who needs it. YOU are the only one who knows what’s best for you. YOU are the only person you have to answer to. YOU are the only one who has the power to make the changes you want to make.”
The post struck a chord with many who are on similar paths. One Instagram user commented, “Proud of you!” while another said, “Amazing dear… Looking for the same change in my life.” A third user added, “Happy sober.” Some users also shared their own stories of overcoming alcohol. “Myself 1 year 7 months…and counting more…. Started when I was 15 years old and stopped at 38. No regrets.”
In 2020, Siddharth had posted a video on Facebook discussing his decision to quit alcohol. He addressed skepticism about his choice, given his family background, and emphasized his commitment to prioritizing his mental health. Siddharth, who previously served as the director of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL cricket team and has acted in various movies and web series, married Jasmine Santiago in a private ceremony at Vijay Mallya’s estate in Hertfordshire, UK earlier this June.
