Republican candidate Donald Trump wins 30 states including Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Florida and others while Kamala Harris, the Democrat candidate won only 20 states up to the time the projections began. Ballot counting exercise is still underways in the rest of counties.

Trump seems to be almost within reach of the presidency as he clinched three swing states including Pennsylvania and in other is leading which has given him 267 electoral votes. Just one more state was remaining for Trump to become the 47th President of the United States of America as 34 others support him. In the country more than 82 million voters used their rights and voted early.

Trump has promised to replace thousands of federal workers with loyalists, impose sweeping tariffs on allies and foes alike, and stage the largest deportation operation in US history.

Donald Trump won the presidency in 2016 because of the Electoral College. So did George W. Bush in 2000. The Electoral College is the unique American system of electing presidents. It is different from the popular vote, and it has an outsize impact on how candidates run and win campaigns. Republicans Trump and Bush lost the popular vote during their presidential runs but won the Electoral College to claim the nation's top office.
