Trump Victory Makes Telugu Community Proud
Donald Trump's victory might have stopped Kamala Harris from scripting history in the overseas US presidential elections of the year 2024, but Indians have a whole another reason to chee for. There is, for instance, the India connection through Usha Chilukuri Vance, JD’s wife and Trump’s running mate and now the vice-president.
The desi fanbase has now geared up toward Usha Chilukuri Vance, who parents were originally from Chilakaluripeta of Andhra Pradesh. Telugu states are two in number and Andhra is one among the two Telugu states. When it has doubled from 3,20,000 in 2016 to 12,30,000 in the year 2024 with the Telugu speaking population in US. Telugu now occupies the 11th rank as a foreign language and the third place among Indian languages in the United States of America.
While the women of Indian origin backed the candidate from the Democratic Party Kamala Harris, the men wanted to vote for the president from the Republican Party Donald Trump. It cannot just be seen as a mere political flip but also illustrates a phenomenon that has seen the INA’s or Indian-origin Americans switch up the political party and political choices they align with, more and more.
However, both Kamala Harris and Usha Vance are true faces of the Indian-American dream and success which actually diversify and highlight the Indian community. It will be having a Trump win alongside a rise in the numbers of people from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and is sure to have a loud Telugu tooting. As the desi focus we will now turn to Usha Chilukuri Vance.
