A five-year-old child tragically died on July 23, succumbing to injuries sustained from an alleged assault by a taekwondo instructor in Yangju city, Gyeonggi Province.
The child had been in intensive care since July 12 after suffering cardiac arrest at the taekwondo studio. Reports reveal that the boy was squeezed upside down into a rolled mat for nearly 20 minutes by the male instructor, who then ignored his pleas for help and attempted to delete security footage.
The instructor, now in police custody, claimed it was a “joke,” as authorities investigate his intent and the incident's role in the boy's cardiac arrest.
