The Dangers Of Consuming Raw Milk
Although milk and its products are highly nutritive, risk of consuming raw or unpasteurized milk is risky. Last week, an influential health influencer started ”The Liver Doc” controversies on ‘X’ for the dangers of taking raw milk. Recently the Kerala based ‘Hepatologist’ posted a strict warning to not take or feed raw milk to the children as the germs like E.coli, Salmonella or Listeria may be present in it. He also dwelt on pasteurization while arguing that it was introduced ‘‘for some reason’’ to protect consumers.
’Raise your kids without giving them raw milk to drink’. Raw milk can contain poisonous diseases causing germs including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Salmonella, E.coli, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, Yersinia, Brucella, Coziella and Listeria. The doctor also pointed out that most bacterial infections in it are not easily curable.
It is important to note that these are not what you would refer to as common infections. Some of them can ruin your life. The bacteria that it can emanate can actually attack the brain and continue to give your child seizures or kill you. (for example: severe Salmonella infection can lead to shock and stop the heart and the brain in a very short time).
Importantly, raw milk is milk derived from cows, sheep, goats or other livestock which has not undergone pasteurization process to eliminate bad bacteria and other lethal pathogens.
Sincere request. Please do not drink and do not feed your kids raw milk. This looks and sounds cool, because it feels like you are doing it the natural way like our ancestors did and all, but remember that our ancestors lived a very long life of 25-30 years, mostly.

The tweet also included links to just released New York State Department of of Health advisories as well as the FDA, both of which state emphatically that individuals should avoid consuming raw milk or products derived from raw milk. The FDA, in a document, pointed out that germs found in raw milk pose significant risks to ‘’impaired immunocompetence’’ – which included transplant patients, people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and diabetes, children, older persons, and pregnant women.
For safety reasons the raw milk must be cooked immediately and that can help remove bacterial, viral, and parasitic contamination. Since all pathogenic organisms are sensitive to heat, the CDC advise that raw milk be boiled for not less than 30 seconds.
