Arshad Warsi disappointed by Kalki 2898 AD
"Kalki 2898 AD features a stellar cast, including top stars from both the Hindi film industry and the South, with additional cameo appearances from several beloved actors. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film shattered records, raking in Rs 1,100 crore at the worldwide box office. Yet, despite its commercial success, the dystopian sci-fi movie, inspired by the Hindu epic Mahabharata and starring Prabhas, left Arshad Warsi unimpressed. Known for his candid opinions, Arshad recently shared his disappointment after watching Kalki 2898 AD, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, among others.
In a recent interview with Samish Bhatia on his show “Unfiltered,” Arshad praised Bachchan's performance and his portrayal of the immortal Ashwathamma, saying, “I watched Kalki, and honestly, I didn’t like it. It hurts me because... Amit ji was mind-blowing, unbelievable. I can’t understand that man. I swear, if we had the power he possesses, our lives would be set. He’s unreal.” However, Arshad didn’t hold back from criticizing Prabhas’ portrayal of Bhairava, expressing his disappointment: “Prabhas, I am really sad. Why was he... he looked like a joker. Why? I wanted to see a Mad Max, a Mel Gibson in that role. What have they done? Why do they make such choices? I don’t understand.”
Arshad’s candid reaction to Kalki 2898 AD has certainly generated buzz. Despite the film's massive success and technical prowess, the Jolly LLB actor's disappointment underscores the subjective nature of audience responses. He also praised Srikanth and commended Rajkummar Rao’s performance in the film, stating, “I watched Srikanth, which I really liked. Rajkummar was great in the film. He’s done a fantastic job.”
The 56-year-old actor further lauded the horror-comedy Munjya, starring Sharvari Wagh and newcomer Abhay Verma. “I’ve heard a lot of good things about Munjya. It’s a small film with a new guy and Sharvari. It’s a horror comedy. I also want to watch Kill. The industry should experiment with its content. The South has been doing that successfully,” he added."
Director Ajay Bhupathi, known for films like RX 100 and Mangalavaaram, lashed out at Arshad Warsi over his recent remarks against the Rebel Star. In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post made by the director, he said, “Prabhas is the man who has given everything & will do anything to take Indian Cinema to the world audience, a Pride of our nation.”

We can see the jealousy on that film, on him in your eyes just because you've faded out & no one gives an eye to you.
There's a limit & a way to…
The filmmaker further went on to criticize Warsi and said that he could see the jealousy the actor had in his eyes for Prabhas and Kalki. He also added that this might be because of the fact the actor himself has faded out and no one gives him the same attention. The director further concluded by saying, “There's a limit & a way to express our opinion... Seems like you're the one that you've said about him.”
