Shocking : Helicopter Crashes In Pune; An Engineer and 2 Pilots Died

An helicopter crashed and caught fire on Wednesday morning in Pune district, Maharashtra. The crash happened around 6:45 am in hilly terrain near Bavdhan, shortly after the helicopter took off from a nearby golf course helipad.

An helicopter crashed and caught fire on Wednesday morning in Pune district, Maharashtra. The crash happened around 6:45 am in hilly terrain near Bavdhan, shortly after the helicopter took off from a nearby golf course helipad. Three people, including two pilots and an engineer, died in the incident. The helicopter had three people on board: two pilots, Paramjit Singh and G K Pillai, and one engineer, Pritam Bharadwaj.

Chief fire officer, Devendra Prabhakar Potphode said that, " When we reached the spot, we saw that the chopper had crashed and all its parts had scattered. There was a smouldering fire. We were able to extract three casualties, and these were handed over to the police...Other information is yet to be ascertained."

According to police, preliminary information says that the helicopter, registered as VT EVV, belonged to Heritage Aviation and was based in Pune. The chopper was chartered by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and was headed to Mumbai. According to NCP chief Sunil Tatkare, he was going to visit Raigad in the helicopter.

Four tankers from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) are present at the spot. Still the exact cause of the crash is unknown, desne fog could be a reason for the crash, police said.
