During the event, co-host Karan Johar inquired about SRK's retirement intentions. Known for his humor, Shah Rukh replied that icons like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Chhetri, and Roger Federer know when to step away.

“They all understand when it’s time to retire, and I think you (Karan) should consider it too,” he joked. When Karan then asked, “So why don’t you retire?” SRK humorously responded, “I’m a different kind of legend. I’m like MS Dhoni—saying no but still playing ten IPLs.”

Vicky Kaushal, who was also present, praised SRK’s legacy with a witty remark: “Retirement is for legends; Kings are eternal.” Interestingly, when Karan asked who would be the next 'King of Romance' after SRK's retirement, he quipped, "Romance will retire along with me."

MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, but continues to play in the Indian Premier League for the Chennai Super Kings. Earlier on Saturday, the BCCI revealed the retention rules for IPL 2025, stating that each team can retain a maximum of six players before the auction.

The board also reinstated the uncapped player rule, which allows any Indian player without an international appearance in the last five years to be considered 'uncapped' and available for a base price of INR 4 lakh. Consequently, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter can be retained by CSK.
