The Prime Minister expressed deep anguish and has ordered authorities to ensure the "strictest possible action" against those responsible for the heinous crime.

The incident occurred earlier this week when a young woman was allegedly assaulted by a group of men in the holy city of Varanasi. Initial reports suggest that the victim, who belongs to a marginalized community, was attacked while returning home late at night. The Prime Minister was briefed about the case during a meeting with senior officials. Deeply disturbed by the nature of the crime, he directed law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and decisively. “This is unacceptable in any civil society.
