Following the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, England has hinted towards arresting Netanyahu if he enters the UK.
The Press releases made by the ICC read that the arrests are for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024 by them. It states that “Both individuals intentionally and knowingly deprived the civilian population in Gaza of objects indispensable to their survival, including food, water, and medicine and medical supplies, as well as fuel and electricity, from at least 8 October 2023 to 20 May 2024,”
Following this, a spokesperson of England’s PM said, "The government would fulfil its obligations under the act and indeed its legal obligations.” They said that they will arrest Netanyahu if he travels to UK. They also revealed that the PM is still in contact with the Israeli PM because they believe that they should have a dialogue with Israel on all levels to de-escalate the conflict in the Middle East.
Netanyahu and USA, his supporters have condemned these warrants and denied the arrest warrants issued by ICC. Israel, over the said duration mentioned by ICC, has killed over 45,000 Palestinians.
