On Monday, three international flights flying from Mumbai received bomb threats, prompting an emergency landing of two flights in Mumbai and one in Delhi. It comes after a bomb threat message received on Sunday to another flight departing from Mumbai.
One Air India and three IndiGo flights departing from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) have received bomb threats in less than 24 hours. In the morning, two IndiGo flights, Jeddah bound 6E 56 and Muscat bound 6E 1275, received a bomb threat. Both aircraft made an emergency landing at Mumbai International Airport. The airline took the necessary steps and sent the plane to a separate bay for safety inspection. Passengers from both aircraft were evacuated safely.

In a statement, IndiGo said, “As per protocol, the aircraft was taken to an isolated bay, and following the standard operating procedure, mandatory security checks were promptly initiated.” On Sunday, another message halted the departure of an IndiGo flight inbound to Chennai. A High Court Judge, a government minister and 169 passengers were on board when the threat was received. CISF personnel conducted a thorough inspection, after which the flight took off at nine at night.
Another such incident happened early in the morning with an Air India flight bound for New York. However, after receiving the threat, they made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. “The aircraft is currently stationed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, and all standard safety protocols are being diligently followed to ensure the safety of the passengers and crew on board,” said a senior police officer.
One of the threat warnings came via a message on X (formerly Twitter). The airline has filed a complaint against the account.
