Because of the outbreak to multi-state, 52 have been mysteriously fallen ill from McDonald’s Quarter Pounders that contained E. Coli. At least 75 people fell ill from the bacterial infection and one person died in Colorado from the strain of E. coli, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday.

McDonalds said the sickened customers fell ill from slivered onions and the Food and Drug Administration pointed towards onions as the possible cause of the outbreak. The CDC said on Friday out of 61 reported cases of illness from the bacteria among 75 people, 22 were admitted to hospital while two suffered acute kidney injury due to the bacteria. It said these cases started in late September and persisted up to October 10.

Among 42 respondents of the officials all declared that they have tasted the McDonalds and 39 declared they had taken beef hamburger. Out of the total respondents 36% actually recalled which type of beef burger they had eaten and out of this 31% said that they had eaten a Quarter Pounder.

On Tuesday this week McDonalds removed its quarter pounders as well as slivered onions in several states. According to CDC, Taylor Farms, which provided slivered onions to McDonalds, serving those particular places, recalled yellow onions. Taylor Farms’ spokesperson said the company released a statement informing that due to the ongoing investigation the company recalled yellow onions imported to the Colorado facility and delivered to some of its foodservice clients only.

“This was the statement released indicating that we are still in contact with CDC and FDA who are looking at the source of the outbreak,” the statement read. “I have food products that are in the market today and I am happy to let customers know that the Taylor Farms products out there are safe to be eaten”. E. Coli is known to occur in the U.S now and then, and it finds its way into U.S food chain through frozen foods and fresh vegetables.
