A California man has filed a lawsuit against around 50 women for labeling him a "bad date" on a Facebook page dedicated to sharing dating experiences. According to the New York Post, Stewart Lucas Murrey is seeking $2.6 million in damages from the women who he claims posted negative reviews about him.

The Facebook group, "Are We Dating The Same Guy," is a platform where women share advice and warnings about potentially harmful or untrustworthy men they have encountered. The group has specific location-based pages across various U.S. cities. “My heart started pounding, as I thought: this man knows where I live,” one woman told the Times of London. She added that her first real-life encounter with Murrey was when he came to her house to deliver the lawsuit.

Murrey alleges that the women posted false information about him on the platform, damaging his dating life and reputation, as reported by the New York Post.

On Monday, a judge in Los Angeles civil court ruled that one of the women, Vanessa Valdez, did nothing wrong by sharing her thoughts about Murrey on the Facebook group. Another defendant, Olivia Berger, noted that many of the women being sued had never even met Murrey in person; some merely liked or reacted to posts about him without any direct interaction.

The women targeted by Murrey hope that the court's decision will set a precedent preventing him from using the legal system against them again. This isn't the first instance of such litigation involving the "Are We Dating The Same Guy?" Facebook group. A man from Chicago also filed a lawsuit against members of the group in his city, alleging defamation.
