Leicester Square Welcomes Statue of SRK & Kajol from The Iconic Film 'DDLJ'

According to a press release, the new statue will be situated along the eastern terrace, which will be outside the Odeon cinema, commemorating the pivotal scene from the film.

A bronze sculpture of Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol, portraying a memorable moment from their 1995 hit film “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” will be installed at Leicester Square in London, marking a milestone for Indian cinema.

The statue is going to be a part of the ‘Scenes in the Square’ movie trail, as announced by the Heart of London Business Alliance on Wednesday. The statue from the beloved film, affectionately known as “DDLJ,” is set to be uncovered in the spring of this year, just months before its 30th anniversary on October 20th, 2025.

“DDLJ” has marked the directorial debut of Aditya Chopra & was produced by his filmmaker-father Yash Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner.

The film, which was significantly filmed in the UK, narrates the romantic journey of 2 young non-resident Indians, Raj and Simran, who fall in love during a vacation across Europe with their friends. It is in Leicester Square where Raj and Simran first meet each other, although they remain unaware of each another’s presence.

According to a press release, the new statue will be situated along the eastern terrace, which will be outside the Odeon cinema, commemorating the pivotal scene from the film. Other notable London locations featured in “DDLJ” include Horseguards Avenue, Hyde Park, Tower Bridge, & also King’s Cross Station.
