Jennifer Lopez is changing the game as a singer, actor, producer, and all-around superstar. Next month, she’ll release her very own film, This Is Me...Now: A Love Story, inspired by her upcoming album, This Is Me...Now (the long-awaited follow-up to 2002’s This Is Me...Then)
J.Lo posted the trailer to her Instagram, writing, “I have not been this nervous, excited, scared and thrilled to share something with you in years!!” She added that telling this story is “the most personal thing I’ve ever done.”
Lopez’s upcoming film is inspired by her next album, This Is Me...Now. Amazon MGM Studios describes the film as “nothing you’ve ever seen from Jennifer Lopez. Alongside director Dave Myers, Jennifer has created a narrative-driven cinematic odyssey, steeped in mythological storytelling and personal healing. Dropping in tandem with her first studio album in a decade, this genre-bending Amazon original showcases her journey to love through her own eyes. With fantastical costumes, breathtaking choreography, and star-studded cameos, this panorama is an introspective retrospective of Jennifer’s resilient heart.”
This Is Me...Now: A Love Story is set to release on February 16, 2024, the same day as her album.
While Lopez will be starring, she’ll be joined by a number of fellow celebrities, including: Fat Joe, Trevor Noah, Kim Petras, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Sofia Vergara, Jenifer Lewis, Jay Shetty, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Sadhguru, Tony Bellissimo, Derek Hough, Trevor Jackson, Paul Raci, Bella Gagliano, Brandon Delsid, Ashley Versher, Malcolm Kelner, Alix Angelis, Danielle Larracuente, Matthew Law, and, of course, Ben Affleck.
The album contains hits like “Jenny from the Block” and “You Belong to me,” and notably, a love declaration to her then-partner, actor Ben Affleck. Although their highly publicized relationship made headlines, it ultimately led to their separation. Two decades later, Lopez remains a constant presence in the media, known for her highly publicized relationships with singer Marc Antony and baseball player Alex Rodriguez. Despite not releasing an album since 2014, Lopez continues to make headlines with her Netflix documentary, a Super Bowl halftime performance, and her return to the big screen.
Scheduled for release on February 16, 2024, “This is Me… Now” is anticipated to be a love letter to Ben Affleck, with tracks hinting at their turbulent love story. The album is accompanied by a film, “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” set to be a heartfelt visual and musical presentation of Lopez’s highly scrutinized love life. The project has generated both excitement and criticism, with rumors about her vocals persisting from the 2000s.
