'Inspect Element' Hack Helps Techies Beat the Crowd for Coldplay Tickets

Techies used a browser trick to buy Coldplay tickets before the general public. This has angered many fans who had trouble getting tickets. The fans are blaming BookMyShow for mismanagement during the ticket sale. The Coldplay concerts are scheduled for January 2025 and will mark the band's return to India after nine years.

The Grammy-winning band Coldplay will be performing at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21 as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour.

Coldplay fans are upset after failing to get tickets for the band's upcoming concerts in Mumbai. The tickets went on sale yesterday on BookMyShow, but many fans complained that they waited for hours in a virtual queue only to find the tickets sold out. Some fans accused BookMyShow of reserving tickets for its own employees and other people, leaving the general public with few options.

A few tech-savvy fans emerged claiming that they bypassed the queue and secured Coldplay tickets. One such example is Archit Chauhan, co-founder and CTO of Crib (formerly a software engineer at Microsoft). He, along with others, reportedly used a technical trick to buy tickets.

“We managed to get Coldplay tickets by using some inspect element tricks to find the "buy" ticket URL before it was available to the general public,” Chauhan wrote on X. He made similar claims in a now-deleted LinkedIn post.
