IndiGo Flight from Mumbai to Doha Cancelled; Passengers Suffer Heat and Suffocation

An IndiGo flight 6E 1303, which was supposed to fly from Mumbai to Doha on Sunday, was canceled because of technical issues, according to an IndiGo spokesperson.

An IndiGo flight 6E 1303, which was supposed to fly from Mumbai to Doha on Sunday, was cancelled because of technical issues, according to an IndiGo spokesperson. IndiGo Airlines has apologized and announced that they are offering hotel accommodations to affected passengers and rebooking them to their final destinations.

A video of Thursday's incident on flight 6E 2235 shows passengers in great discomfort. After a delay of nearly 18 hours, the flight finally departed from Mumbai Airport for Doha around 9:45 pm. It was originally supposed to leave at about 4 am, according to reports. 

Reports say that some passengers fainted from the intense heat and lack of ventilation, while others used magazines to try and cool themselves down.

An apology was made by IndiGo Flight saying, "IndiGo flight 6E 1303 operating from Mumbai to Doha was delayed due to a technical reason. Our airport team immediately provided assistance to the affected customers and provided refreshments and necessary arrangements. The aircraft tried to depart for its destination a couple of times but had to finally be called off due to the extended time lag on account of various procedural delays. The customers are being provided hotels and are being rebooked as per their final destination.sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused to its customers."
