On Thursday night, doctors at AIIMS Hospital declared the Former Prime Minister dead at 92 due to age-related medical reasons. Known for his polite and soft-spoken nature, Manmohan Singh is responsible for opening up India to the global market.

According to reports, Dr Manmohan Singh fell unconscious at his house in Delhi. He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Science, Delhi, for emergency care. However, even after receiving the care, doctors declared him dead on Thursday night, sending shockwaves through the country.

Political leaders, celebrities, and even foreign countries and Institutes have shared condolences and grief over his death, implying his immense impact. Surprisingly, even China expressed condolences over Manmohan Singh’s death.

Dr Manmohan Singh was the first and only Prime Minister from the Sikh minority. He led the UPA government for two years between 2004 and 2014, becoming one of the few Prime Ministers to complete two terms. Prior to being the Prime Minister, he was appointed as the Finance Minister, and it was his reforms in 1991 that opened up the country to private and foreign investment. He also served as a Rajya Sabha Member until April this year.

As Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh was always criticised by the opposition and his party. He was called the Quiet PM or the Puppet Prime Minister. However, during his tenure, he worked to push India in front of global eyes. Under his leadership, the Indian-American Nuclear Deal made India a nuclear power in the World. 

He once said that history would treat him better than the contemporary Media, media that exists in the country because of his reforms. Dr Manmohan Singh never shied away from press conferences. His press conference was the last that ever happened in India after 2014.

Regardless of anything, Former Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh lived a long and prosperous life and spent most of it to serve the country.
