Former President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to banning what he calls "transgender ideology" in public schools and prohibiting gender-affirming procedures for minors across the country. Speaking to a crowd at the Concord Convention Center in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday, Trump outlined his plans to take swift action if re-elected in 2024.
"On day one, I will sign an executive order banning critical race theory or transgender insanity," Trump declared to applause. He further emphasized his goal to "defeat the toxic poison of gender ideology" and reiterated his belief that "God created two genders: male and female."
In addition to addressing gender issues, Trump voiced his strong support for religious freedom in education and reaffirmed his stance against male athletes competing in women’s sports. "I will keep men out of women’s sports," he said, pledging to sign a law that would ban what he referred to as "child sex mutilation" in all 50 states.
Trump also touched on familiar themes from his previous campaigns, including his promise that Americans would "proudly say 'Merry Christmas' again."
During his speech, the former president criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of hostility toward Christianity, citing her stance on allowing transgender athletes in sports. He also shared a personal story about a close call in Butler, Pennsylvania, which he described as a moment of divine intervention that brought him and his family closer to God.
