The Bay of Bengal is known for creating some of the worst kinds of cyclones, one of which is the impending Cyclone Dana which is said to make landfall at midnight.
Cyclone Dana was just upgraded to a Severe Cyclonic Storm as it reached near the West Bengal and Odisha Coastline. The cyclone is said to have unleashed the most destruction in these two states, with some heavy rainfall in Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Jharkhand. Most of Central, West and North India would have been impacted by this storm.

The cyclone is said to make landfall around midnight and continue till the next morning. Both the states are put on high alert and people in the low-lying areas have started to evacuate. Odisha has identified over one lakh people who need to be evacuated while West Bengal has evacuated around 2 lakh people with one lakh more to go.
Public transport around the state is said today he distributed gravely. People in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, have not ventured onto the streets in fear of this Storm. The whole of Kolkata is on high Alert. All flights at the Kolkata Airport have been cancelled as it prepares to tackle this situation.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced that she would stay in the secretariat till the landfall occurs. She urged everyone to cooperate with the local authorities and police.
